Now the fun begins
Serenity Designs opened for business earlier this week, which is what gave me the inspiration to finally reinstall WordPress and get my blog back up and running. I currently have four items up for sale, and a few more works in progress that I should be listing sometime in the next week. I’ve been almost-ready for a couple of weeks now, but I’ve been caught in a cycle of “what if I do something wrong” fears? I finally fought the fears back and decided to just take the plunge. I have to say that it feels pretty good. Also I can’t believe how great the Mini Etsy looks in my sidebar. Did I really take those pictures? The $4 light tent made a gigantic difference. But I may be a bit biased.
Right now I’m working on a pair of fingerless gloves that I hope to speed through in an evening or two, and a wedding present that I’m afraid won’t be done in time if I don’t get working on it. When the gloves are done, I think I’m going to dig out the jewelry supplies and make some more necklaces and earrings. I just wish that either a) these things didn’t take so much time or b) there were more hours in the day to get things done. I definitely prefer having fewer “free” hours to being unemployed, of course, but those four to and a half hours between getting home and going to sleep seem to just fly by without me having really finished anything. Maybe I just need to stop doing things at such a leisurely rate. I’m still fairly new to crochet - I only learned how to do anything other than chains less than two months ago - so maybe I’ll speed up with time. It would also help if I didn’t stop so often to admire my works-in-progress, I guess. But it’s all so pretty! I’m constantly in awe that I can turn balls of yarn into useful, usable and beautiful items with little more than a hook, a needle and some scissors.
Tonight I probably won’t get much done because it’s “date night” with the hubby. (It’s funny - I always hated the word “hubby”, until I became married and discovered that you can only use the word “husband” without variation so many times before it gets tired. Now it kinda amuses me with its cuteness. Like that aunt who won’t stop pinching someone else’s cheeks.) But tomorrow night is knitting circle, so that should be good productive time (if gossiping with the girls doesn’t slow me down too much!)
