Join millions of artisans world-wide as we find appropriate homes for all the loose yarns, beads, buttons, papers, pencils, paints, needles, hooks, etc that are cluttering up our studios!
Okay, so I have to admit that I made that up. But it’s a good idea! I love being organized, especially when I’m feeling a bit scattered and overwhelmed by the number of things I need to do. Somehow they don’t seem quite so overwhelming once I’ve gotten a small corner of my world in order physically. Even something as small as cleaning off a desk can help, or emptying out a junk box. You know those boxes that you never got around to unpacking after your last move… three years ago… and are sitting in the back of your closet? Yeah, I’ve got several of those, but now I have two fewer! I’m usually too lazy to clean up all of my messes - like the piles of clutter next to my computer - but I like to at least keep my active work space neat and clear of everything I’m not currently working on. I decided that it was finally time to move all my art and craft supplies to the same room, and I found a few items to list on our local freecycle group while I was at it.
After lunch, the fun continues! I plan to sit down at my computer… and balance the checkbook. Sigh and Ugh. I have several months of two people’s reciepts to dig through at this point. But I also plan to enjoy a pot of tea as I do it, so I can use the new mug I bought myself on a whim this afternoon. It’s white with the word “simplici-tea” engraved into it, and the inside is a rich orange, with the following printed around the rim: “n. the appreciation of life’s little moments while drinking tea”. I realized that I hadn’t bought myself anything pretty to use - other than yarn - for some time, so I gave myself permission to splurge, even though I have yet to actually make back any of the money I’ve spend on said yarns. Thinking back, I realize that it would have been appropriate for me to buy the “sereni-tea” version to use as my studio teamug, but I liked the color on this one better.
What’s on your agenda for today?
Edit: The teamug looks particularly pretty filled with a hibiscus/mint tisane called Rio Getaway, from TeaNoir.
